Fee Information

Dr Pelling has what is called a sliding scale fee. Those holding a concession card or experiencing financial hardship will pay a lower fee for service.

Table of fees

Please note: Bulk Billing Is Not Available
1 Rebate amount refers to an Australian Government Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Initiative only.
2 If not eligible for the rebate shown above, the total out of pocket expense will vary depending on the type of private health insurance you have (if applicable).
3 Concession fee is for concession/pension card holders only.
4 For those experiencing extreme financial hardship the standard Medicare fee may be applied upon successful application for a fee reduction.
Standard Fee Rebate1 Out of pocket expense (Gap)2
Standard Consult (50 min) $190 $124.50 $65.50
Standard Consult (Concession)3 $160 $124.50 $35.50
Standard Consult (Financial Hardship)4 $146.45 $124.50 $21.95

Those who have amassed several medical expenses may be entitled to a larger rebate on their fee directly from Medicare. However, such rebates are at the discretion of and under the control of Medicare.

Gap payments cannot be claimed on private health insurance. Services not covered by Medicare can, however, often be claimed on private health insurance but the rate of rebate will vary depending on the circumstances and cover involved.

Generally there are a maximum of 10 rebates available per calendar year with an active Mental Health Care Plan referral.

Fees are payable at the time of service provision. Fees are usually paid via Visa/Mastercard/EFTPOS and it is requested that clients do not pay for services in cash as cash is not kept on the premises and thus change cannot be provided. If you bring your Medicare card to your appointment and have your bank account connected to Medicare, your Medicare rebate can usually be processed at the time of payment and tends to be almost instantaneous.

Dr Pelling is registered as a Medicare-approved Clinical Psychologist and thus offers the maximum gap for psychologists allowable via Medicare.

Waiting Times

Dr Pelling can usually meet within a few weeks of a new client requesting an appointment/the receipt of a new Mental Health Care Plan referral. Delays may occur if clients are wishing out of regular hours appointments. After your initial appointment you will be seen weekly or fortnightly depending on your circumstances.

Appointment Times

Dr Pelling operates a boutique private practice and thus sees a limited number of clients. Generally, she meets with clients one day a week.

Cancellation Policy

Dr Pelling asks that you kindly give one day’s notice if you are to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Failure to attend a scheduled appointment without such notice may result in a $25 fee.
